Strategic Web Overhaul for Quantum Flooring

Web rebuild for Quantum Flooring: tailored design, improved structure, custom product ordering, and enhanced performance – all crafted to support future growth.

Situation

Quantum Flooring Accessories, a brand of Quantum Profile Systems Ltd., required a comprehensive website refresh to enhance usability, structure, and design. Their existing website, a multisite installation with five custom themes and bespoke plugins, lacked consistency and efficiency. Our role was to implement new screen designs provided in Adobe XD by a designer who worked directly with the client to improve the site’s functionality and user experience.

Task

As the maintainers and hosts of the QPSL websites since 2023, we were responsible for translating the new designs into a fully functional site while ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure. The key challenges included improving the website’s structure, optimising performance, and implementing a more intuitive product display, all while working within the constraints of Elementor Pro.

Action

The project commenced in late-2024, with the client collaborating with the designer on UI/UX improvements. After multiple revisions, we were awarded the implementation phase, which officially began in January 2025 following an initial client meeting in November 2024. Our approach involved:

Project management & collaboration: To keep all stakeholders engaged, we provided thorough documentation and utilised our in-house project management tool. This facilitated smooth communication between Quantum Profile Systems Ltd., IQ Media (our partner agency), and ourselves.

Product structure & organisation: Although not an eCommerce site, the website showcases over 200 products across multiple categories. We restructured the product pages to follow an eCommerce-style layout, improving navigation and future-proofing the platform for a potential transition to eCommerce.

Custom sample ordering system: We developed a bespoke sample ordering system using Gravity Forms, integrating a custom-built module that functions as a mini-checkout. This system allows users to intuitively select product samples using existing product data and hierarchy.

Performance & usability enhancements: Elementor Pro, while powerful, presents challenges in building complex, responsive components efficiently. Since the designs were delivered as high-fidelity Adobe XD files, we built all components from scratch, ensuring precise alignment with the intended design.

Result

By adopting a strategic approach to design implementation and performance enhancement, we have laid the groundwork for a scalable, user-friendly platform that aligns with the client’s long-term business goals.

The redesign provided more than just visual improvements – it addressed structural inefficiencies and laid the foundation for a scalable, future-ready platform. Key enhancements include:

  • Flexible product templates (PDP): We converted rigid, hardcoded layouts into a modular system using Elementor and custom shortcodes, enabling easier content updates.
  • Smarter product organisation (CLP & PLP): Product category pages are now dynamically generated, driven by custom fields and a unified taxonomy for better scalability.
  • Download management module: Developed a reusable system to manage both files and URLs across the site, easily embedded via shortcode.
  • Structured product data: Consolidated fragmented files and content into structured, dynamic fields for better long-term management.
  • Advanced sample request system: What began as a simple form evolved into a custom-built, lightweight cart-style experience that dynamically pulls product data, handles duplicates, and respects complex category hierarchies.
  • Category consistency: Collaborated closely with the client to finalise product categorisation, eliminating inconsistencies and improving user navigation.
  • Reusable template system: Translated the old theme into a new, modular setup using mostly vanilla Elementor Pro and the basic version of Essential Addons. We prioritised maintainability by limiting custom code and building with reusable templates and shortcodes, making future edits straightforward for the client team.
  • Collaborative multi-environment workflow: Maintained a structured deployment process using local development for code, a staging site for layout integration, and live production publishing in phases. This allowed the client to make content changes independently while ensuring that updates didn’t disrupt legacy functionality or previously launched features.

These improvements were essential in delivering a robust redesign – enhancing both the user experience and internal content management efficiency.
