Hi, I’m Maciek (Matt) Rek – a web designer and developer with over 25 years of experience. I started Mattrs to offer something most agencies don’t: one person who handles your project from first conversation to long-term support, and actually knows your site inside out.
Since 2012, I’ve been running my own business, collaborating with clients across industries in both freelance and in-house roles. From early concepts to fully developed websites, my focus remains the same: clear communication, reliable delivery, and designs that perform as well as they look.

Matt’s Design Journey
1999: Teenage Maciek builds his first website at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology using MS FrontPage and hand-coded HTML… it quickly becomes a small campus hit 😉
2001: Joins a local design studio in Wrocław, mastering Adobe tools and contributing to projects for CD PROJEKT (creators of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077).
Mid-2000s: Expands into agency work, designing for real estate companies and shopping centres, building a practical, no-nonsense approach to design along the way.
2008: Moves to Edinburgh, joining Copymade Ltd as a graphic designer.
2010: Spends time in London, working in print and startups while freelancing as a WordPress designer – turning a side project into a serious pursuit.
2013: Begins a long-term collaboration with Hampton Court House, refining his design and branding skills across a six-year partnership.
2019: Returns to full-time freelancing. Amid Brexit and the pandemic, Mattrs takes shape as a focused, small-scale design studio.
2021: Joins Contrado Imaging Ltd in London as a web designer and front-end developer, gaining deep experience in large-scale e-commerce – high-traffic, complex, performance-critical.
2023: Relocates back to Edinburgh, establishing Web Design Mattrs as a dedicated service for small and medium-sized businesses, combining design, development, and hosting under one roof.
